That Girl has had a busy end to the summer season with two regular events once again taking place.
The beginning of September saw Nottingham Mela in Aboretum Park attract a family audience of nearly 5000 people throughout the day to experience Asian culture, arts and music.

Visitors enjoyed carom boards, dance demonstrations, delicious food and fantastic musical performances from the central bandstand in the park. Craft stalls and community organisations added to the attractions.
This is the second year That Girl has been involved with organising the logistics for the event including security, site layout and planning and thoroughly enjoys the mix of cultures and visitors the event attracts.

We were also blessed with a beautiful day so the park was the perfect venue for a relaxing afternoon.
The last weekend of September saw That Girl’s favourite festival take place – Stamford’s Georgian Festival, although the weather wasn’t nearly as kind as in previous years! The Meadows saw its usual mix of traditional fairground attractions, re-enactors and period traders. Unfortunately due to the weather, the tethered balloon rides which were due to feature were unable to fly. However the rain didn’t deter visitors too much and a welcome break in the clouds on both days saw visitors flock to the town.

For the first time this year, a costumed promenade took place on the Sunday to which visitors were invited to join in. Led by festival friend, John White and supported by period tailor, Zack Pinsent, the promenade attracted a good number of participants who braved the threatening downpour! Other favourites included the punch and judy show, the Historical Maritime Society and its boat on the river and, of course, the Saturday evening procession. This year it took its theme from the age of wonder with hundreds of children parading with their hand made balloon lanterns up to the projected finale story on Browns hospital…

Local videographer Rich Beach captured the whole festival in this wonderful short film.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oGCAeSi2vI
