Another ‘event’ful year

As 2022 draws to a close, a look back on some of the exciting things ‘that girl’ has once again been involved in organising…

We kicked off the year with Youth Fest in Grantham in March followed by the first ‘Dino Day’ in Worksop back in May which proved so popular that it will be repeated in 2023 – watch out for another roaring success!

Along with the rest of the country, Retford celebrated the Platinum Jubilee with what turned out to be an indoor street party! The initial idea of having tables out on the market square was thwarted by the great British weather as Sunday 4th June saw a damp and drizzly day descend upon the town. However, in true British style we had a wet weather plan which saw all the tables set out in the town hall where a fabulous afternoon of celebrations was enjoyed by all who attended.

Moving onto July and another favourite, North Notts Food Festival, returned to Worksop with guest celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager. What a start she was keeping the crowd at her demo’s thoroughly entertained and in fits of laughter. The weather wasn’t as kind as it could have been but a good day for traders and visitors alike.

August saw another successful Party in the Square in Retford which was blessed with wonderful weather. This was reflected in the numbers who turned out to watch and enjoy an afternoon of free musical entertainment in the centre of town with a fantastic performance by top George Michael tribute, Rob Lamberti.

In between events, other work for The Cavendish hotel in London’s Mayfair continued along with copywriting and website work for clients through associates.

The year, as always, rounded off with Christmas markets in both Worksop and Retford which were both a tremendous success in partnership with the local business forums. Retford welcomed back ‘Slyde’ who performed at Worksop the previous year whilst Worksop danced away to top Madness tribute band, Complete Madness who were a hit with the crowd.
